This is a guide to PicoSure tattoo removal compiled by Dr. Choi Byeong-geun of SHINE U Clinic Konkuk (3 minutes walk from Konkuk Univ. Station, Exit 1).
People considering tattoo removal often ask questions in the consultation room, such as whether scrubbing will remove it, how many sessions are needed, and what the pain is like. In this article, we will gather those questions and answer them calmly.
Will scrubbing remove a tattoo?
No, it will not.
Tattoo ink is located in the dermis, not the epidermis. Even if epidermal cells shed, the ink in the dermis remains.
- The epidermis and dermis are attached but are fundamentally different tissues.
- Therefore, pigments do not disappear through natural methods.
How are tattoos removed?
Currently, the method of breaking down pigments with a laser is mainly used.
- In the past, methods involved excising the skin or burning it with heat.
- Burning methods were highly irritating and could lead to side effects.
- Currently, methods that vibrate the dye to break down pigments are common.
Why choose a pico laser?
Results can vary depending on the laser device.
- Pico lasers irradiate in picosecond units, beyond nanoseconds.
- The time required to remove a specific area tends to be reduced.
- The shorter contact time makes it advantageous to increase the intensity of a single irradiation.
These characteristics are known to lead to less burden and good results. If you are curious whether it is suitable for your tattoo, check by consulting for tattoo removal.
Can it be finished in one session?
Most procedures are performed over several sessions.
- The number of sessions required varies depending on the size, depth, and color.
- Overdoing it in one session can increase pain and burden.
- It is best to proceed slowly, allowing the tattoo to fade gradually.
What about the pain?
Pico laser treatment is not entirely painless.
- As the process progresses, deeper pigments remain, and you may feel pain.
- This is because deep pigments are not easily removed with moderate intensity.
- Pain and recovery may vary from person to person.
In what cases is removal considered?
There are various situations in which removal is considered.
- If you got a lover's name tattooed and then broke up.
- If it hinders employment or your professional environment.
- If you are not satisfied with the shape of your semi-permanent makeup.
If you are curious about semi-permanent makeup removal, please also refer to PicoSure semi-permanent tattoo removal.
Regardless of the situation, it is important to check the pigment condition rather than worrying alone. If you are curious about your tattoo removal plan, please feel free to inquire by asking about my removal method.
