This is a guide to InMode compiled by Dr. Choi Byeong-geun of SHINE U Clinic Konkuk (3 minutes walk from Konkuk Univ. Station Exit 1).

As we age, collagen and elastin decrease, causing sagging cheeks and jowls, and a breakdown of the facial contour. Since it is difficult to expect rapid changes with home care, many people seek high-frequency lifting. Among them, InMode is characterized by using two different modes. Let's summarize how it works.

Basic Principles of InMode

InMode uses high-frequency energy to sequentially treat the epidermis, dermis, and deeper layers. It approaches each layer using two different handpieces.

  • It stimulates elastic cells in the epidermis and dermis to promote collagen and elastin regeneration.
  • An infrared sensor monitors skin temperature in real-time to control overheating.

High-frequency heat is reported to stimulate fibroblasts in the deeper layers, inducing the regeneration of elastic components.

Differences Between the Two Modes

ModeMain ActionExpected Role
FormaEpidermis, DermisSurface elasticity refinement, texture improvement
FXSubcutaneous fat layerFat cell action, contour refinement

The Forma mode applies heat to the surface to stimulate slowed fibroblasts and focuses on tightening surface elasticity with a rubbing method. The FX mode uses high-voltage current to act on the subcutaneous fat layer, addressing issues caused by sagging fat, such as a double chin or deep jowls.

Safety Aspects

InMode proceeds with an infrared sensor checking the skin temperature multiple times per second. It is designed to reduce the risk of burns. However, since high-heat wavelengths are involved, it is safer to proceed with an appropriate intensity after a diagnosis.

Who is it considered for?

  • Those who are concerned about both sagging cheeks and a double chin.
  • Those who want to improve both surface elasticity and texture simultaneously.
  • Those who are concerned about changes in facial contour due to sagging fat.

Even with InMode, Forma and FX treat different layers, so it is important to get a diagnosis to determine which layer your concerns originate from and to design the mode accordingly. Results and suitability may vary depending on the individual.
