This is a guide to filler compiled by Dr. Choi Byeong-geun of SHINE U Clinic Konkuk (3 minutes walk from Konkuk Univ. Station Exit 1).
The nose is located in the center of the face, and even a slight change can alter one's impression. When a prominent bridge and a slightly upturned tip are well-harmonized, the face gains a three-dimensional effect. However, in the examination room, what we unexpectedly pay more attention to is the angle between the nose and the mouth, the nasolabial angle.
What is the nasolabial angle?
The nasolabial angle is a medical term referring to the angle formed by the columella, the central pillar of the nose, and the philtrum, the groove above the upper lip. When viewed from the side, an angle of approximately 95-100 degrees is known to create a refreshing profile line. This part influences the impression of the profile as much as the bridge of the nose.
For whom is it considered?
It is often considered during consultations in the following cases:
- If the bridge of the nose is low or has a bowed shape.
- If the nasal tip is blunt.
- If the nasolabial angle is recessed.
- If the nostrils are wide or there is a slight protrusion of the mouth.
Even with the same nasolabial angle, the interpretation differs from person to person. Finding the line that suits you is the priority.
Reasons for considering it instead of surgery
Surgery involving implants in the nose is a complex process, and over time, reactions such as implant migration, deformation, or contracture have been reported. Therefore, many people who are hesitant about incisions explore the option of refining their profile with filler.

Procedure and recovery burden
Since the procedure typically takes about 10 minutes, returning to daily life is relatively easy. However, temporary reactions may occur after the procedure, so it is safe to seek medical attention if symptoms different from usual persist.
Why customized design is important
Filler must be injected in the correct amount, and the design should be planned in advance by understanding your facial proportions. The process of receiving sufficient explanation from medical staff with medical knowledge and experience and creating a customized plan determines the outcome.
Summary
The nose is an area where even small changes can alter one's image. To achieve natural results, it is necessary to consider not only the height of the nasal bridge but also profile elements such as the nasolabial angle. The degree and duration of maintenance may vary individually, so determining the right direction for you through diagnosis is paramount.
