We have compared and summarized how the depth and method handled by Tuneface and InMode Former differ, even though they are both high-frequency lifting.

This is a guide to TuneFace compiled by Dr. Choi Byeong-geun of SHINE U Clinic Konkuk (3 minutes walk from Konkuk Univ. Station Exit 1).

When I was younger, my skin's regenerative capacity was high, so I didn't notice much in the way of pores or sagging. But as time passed, I started to see my skin sag and my complexion dull. When I first decided to start caring for my skin, I wasn't sure where to begin, so I compared two radiofrequency lifting treatments and decided to proceed with both.

Signs of declining elasticity

Fine wrinkles began to appear in areas where I frequently use small muscles, such as around my eyes and mouth. This change occurred because collagen and elastin were no longer regenerating as they used to.

  • Deepening fine wrinkles, changing my overall impression
  • Blurred jawline and a tendency towards a double chin
  • Dryness and reduced radiance due to weakened skin barrier function

The reason I considered both devices together was that delivering energy only to the epidermis makes it difficult to evenly restore elasticity.

Comparing the roles of the two radiofrequency treatments

The differences between the two devices, as I understood them during the consultation, were as follows:

CategoryTuneFaceInMode Forma
MethodAlma multi-radiofrequency 40.68MHzRadiofrequency thermal energy
Depth of actionLower dermis, 3-level depth controlDeep SMAS layer
Complementary factorsCollagen reconstruction, tone & textureHyaluronic acid, moisture & barrier

Even though both use radiofrequency, the key was that they target different depths and complement different factors, so their roles were divided when used together.

The depth targeted by TuneFace

TuneFace helped reconstruct collagen tissue deep within the skin, not just on the surface, by stimulating 40.68MHz radiofrequency energy. As collagen was newly remodeled, sagging was fundamentally alleviated, and as the barrier was restored, the skin texture became moist. With 3-level depth control, it was possible to restore elasticity in easily missed areas such as the lower dermis, jowls, and nasolabial folds.

Delicate tips and heat generation principle

There weren't just large tips; there were also narrow tips for delicate areas like around the mouth or under the eyes. The principle was to deliver energy using an ice contact cooling method, rotating water molecules to create friction in the tissue, and inducing collagen synthesis with the heat generated. I also noticed a reduction in pores along with a natural lifting effect.

Moisture added by InMode Forma

The InMode Forma treatment I received simultaneously used radiofrequency thermal energy to act on the deep SMAS layer, activating hyaluronic acid along with elastin and collagen. Hyaluronic acid strengthens the skin barrier and attracts moisture, filling the skin with hydration from within. I felt a change where elasticity was added to my sagging jawline, and the line became smoothly refined.

Temperature management and finishing

I was concerned that the radiofrequency temperature might be too much for normal skin, but I was reassured by the explanation that it checks the epidermal temperature 1,000 times per second to reduce the risk of pain, burns, and blisters. However, I felt that the process of receiving a one-on-one design was important, as the right combination varies depending on skin type and thickness. The degree of results may vary from person to person.

If you're wondering whether to combine TuneFace and InMode Forma, check the right combination for you through a consultation. You can also compare it with InMode Forma which I received, or the radiofrequency lifting Thermage FLX.
