This is a guide to Ultherapy PRIME compiled by Dr. Choi Byeong-geun of SHINE U Clinic Konkuk (3 minutes walk from Konkuk Univ. Station, Exit 1).
Once skin elasticity declines, it is not easy to restore, so more and more people are seeking ultrasound lifting from a relatively young age. However, ultrasound lifting is not suitable for everyone. We will gather and organize frequently asked questions.
How does ultrasound lifting work?
It uses high-intensity focused ultrasound, called HIFU, to focus energy at a specific depth without directly penetrating the skin.
- Strong ultrasound energy is focused at depths of 1.5mm to 4.5mm.
- Thermal coagulation points are formed in the skin and SMAS layers to induce a regenerative response.
It is reported that weakened tissues contract, collagen regeneration is promoted, and elasticity is enhanced.
Is it suitable for everyone?
For those with less cheek fat or facial fat, careful consideration is needed. This is because the ultrasound thermal energy penetrates deeply, temporarily shrinking the fat layer, which can lead to a change where the face appears to have lost fat.
| Category | Points to consider |
|---|---|
| Less fat | Careful consideration of potential cheek hollowing |
| More fat | Relatively less burden |
| Common | Need for careful design of intensity, shot count, and area |
However, if performed with appropriate intensity, area, and shot count after sufficient consultation, these concerns can generally be minimized.

When do changes become visible?
In addition to immediate tightening, collagen and elastin production are promoted over 2 weeks to 3 months, and changes are reported to appear gradually. However, the progress may vary depending on the individual.
What are the management cycle and precautions?
- For the management cycle, it is generally recommended to receive treatments consistently at regular intervals.
- After the treatment, it is advisable to avoid activities that cause excessive sweating, such as strenuous exercise, saunas, and jjimjilbangs.
- It is good to protect the skin by carefully applying sunscreen.
The procedure is performed after simple topical anesthesia to reduce significant pain, but the sensation may vary depending on the individual.
