This is a guide to Ultherapy PRIME compiled by Dr. Choi Byeong-geun of SHINE U Clinic Konkuk (3 minutes walk from Konkuk Univ. Station Exit 1).
When you look into lifting procedures, you often hear terms like "thermal coagulation points" and "collagen production," but it's not always clear exactly how they work. In this article, we will explain how ultrasound lifting leads to collagen production and address frequently asked questions about combinations that tackle both elasticity and a V-line.
What are thermal coagulation points?
High-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) concentrates energy at a specific depth in the dermal and SMAS layers without incising the skin surface. The small thermal stimulation created at these points is called a thermal coagulation point.
It is reported that collagen production and tissue contraction occur as the skin recovers from this stimulation.
Why treat the inside, not the surface?
Because to address the root cause of elasticity, it is necessary to act on the deep layers where collagen is located, rather than just the surface. This is why ultrasound lifting generally leaves relatively few traces on the surface.
- Acts on deep layers while minimizing surface damage
- Gradual changes through collagen production
- Tightens by contracting sagging tissues

What's different about each device?
Even within the same ultrasound category, the handpiece shapes and modes differ. Designs tailored to specific areas, such as pen-type handpieces for curved areas and linear modes for comprehensive coverage, are added. Dedicated ampoules may also be used to reduce dryness during the procedure.
How can a V-line be addressed simultaneously?
While elasticity lifting addresses sagging and wrinkles, fat in the facial contours requires a separate approach. InMode Fix uses high-frequency energy to generate heat of approximately 45-47 degrees, acting on areas with more fat. It is utilized to refine the jowls and double chin, smoothing out the facial contours.
By addressing elasticity with ultrasound and contour fat with high-frequency, both concerns can be tackled together.
Conclusion
The core of lifting is collagen production through thermal coagulation points, and if contour concerns are also present, a high-frequency method may be added. The appropriate combination varies depending on individual skin condition, so a diagnosis comes first.
