Some people are concerned about their temples bulging out every time they chew food. This is a case where the temporalis muscle is well-developed. Let's summarize how temple Botox works and for whom it may be considered.

What is the temporalis muscle?

The temporalis muscle is a type of masticatory muscle, along with the masseter muscle.

  • It is a large, fan-shaped muscle that spreads widely from the temples to the inside of the ear and hairline.
  • If it is excessively developed, the upper part of the face may appear larger.

It is reported that if the temporalis muscle is excessively developed, it can protrude noticeably when chewing food.

Why has it become more concerning?

As square jaw Botox has become popularized, more people are becoming concerned about their temporalis muscles appearing relatively hypertrophied. This is a case where the jawline is refined, but the volume in the temple area remains, leading to an imbalance.

How temple Botox works

Botox, with botulinum toxin as its main ingredient, is injected into hypertrophied muscles or wrinkled areas to locally paralyze the muscles. When injected into the temporalis muscle, it works to reduce the excessively developed volume and refine the upper facial line.

For whom is it considered?

  • Those who are concerned that hats look particularly small or that their upper face is wide.
  • Those who are concerned about teeth grinding.
  • Those who are concerned about their temples bulging out when chewing food.

Since muscle, nerve, and fat distribution vary from person to person, the process of analyzing the facial condition and planning is important. The results and suitability may vary depending on the individual.
